Claim Analyst

Contextual Overview

Vitol, a global leader in energy and commodities trading, is seeking a Claim Analyst to join its team in Singapore. The role involves managing shipping-related claims, charterparties, demurrage, and sale contract evaluations within a dynamic energy trading environment.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• At least 3 years of working experience in demurrage or claims handling (ideally spanning both charterparty and sale contract claims).
• Tertiary education with a Polytechnic Diploma or above.
• Recent graduates holding at least a Diploma in Maritime Studies or an equivalent qualification are also encouraged to apply.
• Must possess the legal right to work in Singapore.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Analyse charterparties and shipping documents to create and compute demurrage and shipping-related claims with shipowners.
• Review incoming charterparty-related demurrage and shipping cost claims.
• Examine sale contracts and related documents (including GTCs) to formulate and calculate claims with counterparties, suppliers, receivers, and terminals.
• Counter and negotiate settlements while liaising with internal business units.
• Assist in reporting outstanding positions regularly to management.
• Stay updated on industry developments and relevant legal case law to ensure trading and charterparty terms remain current.
