Contextual Overview

APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations under the A.P. Moller - Maersk group, is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support its investments and infrastructure projects across the Asia Pacific region. The role involves providing end-to-end legal support for project lifecycles, including investment, construction, and operational readiness.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Qualified lawyer in a recognised jurisdiction (common-law qualification preferred).
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm practice and in-house experience.
• Expertise: Demonstrated experience in major infrastructure projects, international commercial transactions, and EPC/FIDIC contracting.
• Skills: Strong commercial judgment, proficiency in drafting/negotiating complex agreements, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Act as a primary legal advisor for infrastructure investments and project delivery.
• Negotiate complex project, construction, and development agreements (EPC/FIDIC).
• Advise on concession tenders, joint ventures, and project delivery risks (e.g., claims, disputes, performance security).
• Manage external legal counsel and maintain consistent contract governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Tax, and Compliance.
