Regional Privacy Counsel - APAC

Contextual Overview

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an experienced Regional Privacy Counsel to join its Global Privacy Law & Compliance team based in Singapore. This role serves as the primary legal advisor for data privacy and protection across the APAC region, supporting business units such as Commercial, Medical Affairs, IT, and HR in navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscapes.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent).
• Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in at least one APAC jurisdiction.
• Experience: 7–10 years of total legal experience, with at least 5 years specifically in data privacy and protection law.
• Expertise: Deep knowledge of at least three APAC privacy regimes (e.g., PIPL, APPI, PIPA, PDPA, DPDPA).

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Act as the subject matter expert on data privacy laws across APAC jurisdictions.
• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Advise on cross-border data transfer mechanisms and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
• Monitor regulatory developments and update internal policies and procedures.
• Develop and deliver regional privacy training programs.
• Support privacy incident triage, investigation, and remediation.
