Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu and a leader in open-source software, is expanding its in-house legal team. They are seeking a Legal Counsel to manage regulatory compliance, product development, and privacy matters within the global enterprise technology sector.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Degree in law (JD or equivalent).
• Active license to practice law or current progress towards licensure.
• Exceptional academic track record.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Drafting and reviewing corporate policies and deploying global compliance controls.
• Developing and scaling global privacy programs, including PIAs and ROPAs.
• Evaluating the impact of data protection laws and emerging AI regulations.
• Providing legal support to cross-functional product teams.
• Collaborating with local counsel across multiple jurisdictions.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Compensation: Competitive, performance-driven base pay with annual bonuses. Compensation is reviewed annually based on location, experience, and performance. Includes a USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget.
