Role Overview
CapMetro, the regional public transportation provider for Austin, TX, is seeking an Associate Counsel II to provide legal advice and assistance regarding real estate, right-of-way (ROW), and capital improvement matters. This role involves drafting and negotiating complex real estate agreements, managing litigation risks, and providing regulatory guidance to staff and the Board of Directors.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensure: Must be a licensed member of the Texas State Bar.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of active legal practice, with at least 2 years specifically in real estate law.
- Preferred: Experience with municipal ordinances, zoning, permitting, rail, or utility real estate work.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Negotiate and draft real estate and development-related agreements (leases, easements, purchase/sale agreements).
