Contextual Overview

Colonial First State (CFS) is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their Sydney-based legal division. This role serves as a trusted adviser to Management and various Boards, providing legal guidance on corporate and commercial matters specifically within the superannuation and investments sector.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Must possess full work rights in Australia.
• Strong experience in the financial services industry, with a preference for candidates with private practice background.
• Proven expertise in contract drafting, commercial advice, AML/CTF, litigation, regulatory matters, privacy, IP, technology, and M&A transactions.
• Thorough understanding of corporate governance structures and regulatory legislation.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide incisive, practical legal advice on diverse corporate and commercial disciplines.
• Assist with corporate governance and company secretary functions.
• Support risk and regulatory compliance projects.
• Collaborate with team members and influence key governance outcomes through effective stakeholder management.
