Senior Corporate Counsel

Contextual Overview

Covista, a prominent healthcare education organization, is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide strategic legal and regulatory advice across its five Title IV higher education institutions. This role involves managing complex legal matters, including student affairs, academic policy, and institutional partnerships, while reporting to the VP, Senior Associate General Counsel.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of practice with substantial experience in the education sector.
• Licensure: Active member in good standing with a U.S. State bar.
• Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, Title IX, Title VI, Section 504, FERPA, and clinical affiliation agreements.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide legal counsel on administrative, academic, and operational matters.
• Draft and interpret policies regarding student conduct, integrity, and disability accommodations.
• Negotiate and draft domestic and international strategic partnership and clinical affiliation agreements.
• Monitor legal developments in for-profit higher education and deliver compliance training.
• Prepare responses to federal and state agencies regarding student matters.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Salary: $185,000 – $205,000 per annum (subject to experience and location). The role is Full-time and operates on a hybrid schedule (in-office Monday–Thursday).
