Senior Corporate Counsel, Product – DigitalOcean
DigitalOcean is hiring a Senior Corporate Counsel, Product to advise product, engineering, and go‑to‑market teams across the entire product lifecycle, focusing on AI and cloud computing.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
- 8+ years of in‑house legal experience supporting SaaS, PaaS, and/or IaaS product development
- Track record of counseling AI product and engineering teams through the product development lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and global privacy laws, IP, open‑source, AI, and data security
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Serve as trusted partner to technical and non‑technical teams
- Assess legal risks in product development, covering privacy, regulatory, licensing, and IP concerns
- Address issues related to customer data, privacy, security, export control, open‑source, and responsible AI
- Shape strategy and priorities of the product counsel function
- Advise on U.S. and global privacy laws (CCPA, GDPR) and emerging AI regulations
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, data protection agreements, vendor agreements, technology partnership agreements, terms of service, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies
- Support incident response and regulatory investigations
- Develop self‑service legal playbooks, templates, and automated workflows
