Contextual Overview

Domtar, a leader in the pulp, paper, and wood products industry, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Conseiller.ière juridique principale) specializing in business law. This permanent, full-time role supports the Wood Products Business Unit and the Paper Excellence group, providing legal guidance on commercial operations, contracts, and compliance.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Degree from a recognized law faculty.
• Active member of the Barreau du Québec.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Bilingual proficiency (French and English) is mandatory.
• Knowledge of the forestry, natural resources, or international trade sectors is considered an asset.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Draft, negotiate, and review procurement and sales agreements.
• Manage litigation files with the support of external counsel.
• Provide legal support for major group projects, including restructurings, plant projects, and M&A.
• Advise on compliance and internal policies.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Compensation: Competitive salary and annual bonus. Includes comprehensive group insurance, defined contribution pension plan, telemedicine services, and professional development support.

Mode: Hybrid (in-person and remote) with flexibility across various Quebec regions (Montreal, Quebec City, Saguenay–Lac‑Saint‑Jean, Sherbrooke, Gatineau).
