DS Smith is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel Central EMEA (m/f/d) based in Fulda, Germany, to advise its Packaging, Paper, and Recycling businesses across the D-A-CH and Benelux markets. This senior-level role combines legal expertise with commercial judgment to deliver pragmatic advice within an international corporate environment.

Key Eligibility Criteria

Completed legal education and admission to practise in Germany, Austria, Belgium, or the Netherlands (or an equivalent qualification).
At least eight years of relevant professional experience, ideally within an international company and/or leading commercial law firm.
Strong knowledge of contract, commercial, business, and corporate law, corporate governance, and compliance.
Business-fluent English combined with strong German or Dutch language skills; additional languages are advantageous.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

Advise Managing Directors and senior management on strategic and operational legal and business matters across Central EMEA.
Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, tender contracts, and technology agreements.
Assess legal, regulatory, and compliance risks and develop mitigation measures using Group policies.
Manage disputes, regulatory proceedings, and coordinate external counsel.
Provide legal support for M&A transactions, corporate reorganizations, and integration projects.
Collaborate on integrating AI and technology-enabled platforms into legal functions.
