Engine by Starling, the SaaS division of Starling Bank, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their legal team. This role focuses on commercial contracts, data protection, and supporting the international expansion of their banking technology platform. The position reports to the Senior Legal Counsel and requires collaboration with senior stakeholders.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- UK qualified lawyer.
- Approximately 3-5 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- Proven experience in banking SaaS, financial services regulatory matters (specifically material outsourcing rules), and commercial contracts.
- Strong technical knowledge of contract law combined with a commercial mindset.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Drafting, negotiating, and advising on client-facing commercial contracts (NDAs, SaaS agreements, software licenses).
- Managing third-party supplier and intragroup commercial agreements.
- Advising on data protection matters related to supplier and client arrangements.
- Supporting international expansion initiatives.
- Instructing and managing external counsel for specialist or international legal matters.
