First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is hiring a Specialist - Internal Shariah Control based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role involves assisting the Head of Shariah Compliance & International in managing end-to-end Shariah-related matters, ensuring compliance of Islamic banking activities and operations with Shariah rules and principles as per the resolutions of the Higher Shariah Authority (HSA), Central Bank of UAE, and the Internal Shariah Supervision Committee (ISSC).
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor's Degree in Shariah, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking, Business Administration, Law, or other related disciplines from a reputable and recognized university.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of Shariah experience in a reputed bank or financial institution with exposure to Islamic Banking precepts and applicable norms.
- Solid understanding of Islamic banking products, Shariah governance requirements, AAOIFI Shariah Standards, and CBUAE regulations.
- Strong command of English and Arabic languages (both written and verbal).
- Professional qualification or certification in Islamic Banking, Finance, Shariah Governance, or Islamic Commercial Jurisprudence is preferred.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Continuously monitor the implementation of resolutions from the Higher Shariah Authority, Central Bank of UAE, and ISSC across international and domestic operations.
- Plan and execute Shariah compliance programs, framework development, gap analysis, reviews, and non-compliance incident management.
- Provide day-to-day Shariah compliance advice to product, business, control, and support groups regarding Fatawa and Shariah resolutions.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal stakeholders (compliance, business groups) and external stakeholders (regulators, external counsels, auditors).
- Conduct targeted Shariah compliance training for bank staff to cultivate an organizational Islamic banking compliance culture.
- Support regular assessments to ensure bank activities do not contravene Shariah rules and assist in managing Shariah compliance risks.
