flatexDEGIRO, Europe's largest retail online broker, is seeking a Legal Counsel to act as a trusted advisor to the business. The role involves navigating complex legal and regulatory challenges within the financial services sector, specifically focusing on Dutch and EU regulations, banking law, and capital markets.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Master's degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent).
• 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a leading law firm or as in-house counsel (financial services preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Dutch and EU financial services regulation, banking law, and capital markets legislation.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch language skills are an advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical business guidance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and legal documentation.
• Advise on regulatory matters related to financial services, banking, and capital markets.
• Conduct legal research and support business decision-making.
• Manage relationships with external counsel, regulators, and industry bodies.
• Support corporate governance, contract management, and legal records maintenance.
• Assist with legal proceedings, including seizures, estates, and claims.
• Represent the firm in negotiations, disputes, and interactions with supervisory authorities (e.g., Kifid).
