Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

Flatpay is seeking an ambitious Legal Counsel to join its headquarters in Herlev/Copenhagen, Denmark. As part of one of Europe's fastest-growing fintech companies, this role acts as a strategic sparring partner for commercial, product, and tech teams across international markets, handling complex legal matters and scaling legal frameworks.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Educational background: Cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur. degree.
• Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of relevant legal experience from a leading law firm, major international company, fintech, tech, or other regulated sector.
• Languages: High proficiency in spoken and written Danish and English.
• Strong competencies in contract law, corporate law, data protection, technology, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Corporate Law & Governance: Advise on corporate matters, group structure, warrants, governance, and general corporate housekeeping.
• International Expansion: Support the establishment and development of Flatpay in new and existing markets, coordinating with local legal counsel.
• Regulatory & Compliance: Collaborate with product and other relevant teams on fintech-related legal and regulatory issues.
• Data, IT Security & AI: Provide independent legal advice on GDPR and AI regulations, policy creation, and emerging legal requirements.
• Legal Operations & External Counsel: Professionalize legal processes and templates, and manage relationships with external lawyers and specialists.
