Harmattan AI, a next-generation defense prime specializing in autonomous and scalable defense systems, is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join its team in Paris. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role involves acting as a hands-on legal business partner to Sales and teams across the company, with a particular focus on French-speaking markets.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Qualified attorney or in-house legal counsel with approximately 5 years of relevant experience in law firms and in-house/tech or defense environments.
- Native-level French and fluent professional English.
- Strong track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
- Solid grounding in contract and corporate law.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain required security clearances or authorizations.
- Preferred: LL.M. from a US or UK institution, or exposure to defense/public-procurement/export-control matters.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Commercial & Procurement: Draft, review, and negotiate customer, partnership, supply, and procurement agreements, including defense-procurement documentation. Support complex negotiations with defense ministries and public-sector bodies.
- Defence, AI & Regulated Technology: Advise on legal and regulatory issues regarding autonomous and AI-enabled defense systems, export controls, sanctions, trade compliance, AI, data, cybersecurity, and IP.
- Corporate & Governance: Support entity governance, board documentation, statutory filings, employment matters, and dispute management.
- French-Speaking Markets: Act as principal legal advisor for expansion, coordinate external local counsel, and build scalable legal processes.
