Legal Counsel (Commercial Technology) 4+PQE | Bristol Hybrid
Hays is recruiting for a market-leading technology business seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its commercial team in Bristol. This is a mid-senior level, full-time role reporting directly to the General Counsel, focusing on complex commercial and technology legal matters within a highly regulated sector.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction).
- Minimum 4 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in-house and/or in private practice.
- Significant experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements in technology, FinTech, software, outsourcing, or business services sectors.
- Expertise in technology contracts, including software licensing and cloud-based services.
- Advantageous: Previous in-house experience in tech, experience with US law contracts, or knowledge of regulated financial services/pensions.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners.
- Managing technology contracts (MSAs, cloud computing, data processing, NDAs, software licensing).
- Advising senior stakeholders on legal and commercial risks with pragmatic solutions.
- Supporting IP, data protection, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Developing internal legal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Monitoring legislative developments and advising on business impact.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Pay: £80,000.00 - £95,000.00 per year.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Bristol, UK).
