Senior Counsel

Contextual Overview

Johnsonville is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their global legal team based at their headquarters in Sheboygan Falls, WI. This generalist role supports business operations across the Western Hemisphere, focusing on contracts, employment law, litigation, regulatory matters, and corporate governance.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of legal practice in a law firm or in-house setting (combination preferred).
• Licensure: Must be a member in good standing with the Wisconsin bar or hold an acceptable equivalent.
• Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (vendor, customer, IT/SaaS, real estate, etc.).
• Manage litigation and pre-litigation matters, including contract disputes, IP, and employment issues.
• Advise the Member Services (HR) team on employment laws and benefits.
• Support strategic activities such as M&A, joint ventures, and licensing.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, including food safety and human safety standards.
• Mentor and coach legal department staff.
