Contextual Overview

JTI (Japan Tobacco International) is inviting applications for the permanent, full-time position of Legal Director, Consumer and Digital (m/f/d) based in Geneva, Switzerland. Global applicants are welcome. This role is designed to support JTI International SA’s omnichannel operations and multi-category organization by delivering proactive, commercial legal counsel in close partnership with the Consumer Office, Data Privacy Office, and other key business stakeholders.

Key Eligibility Criteria

Qualification: Must be a qualified legal professional in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including in-house experience (preferably within the consumer goods / FMCG sector).
Language Proficiency: Fluent English speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of privacy and data security laws, consumer protection, advertising standards, social media compliance, and emerging technologies (including AI and digital platform regulations).

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

Advise business teams on consumer engagement strategies, mobile/e-commerce, digital marketing, influencer programs, brand partnerships, and privacy implications.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including service, marketing agency, sponsorship, joint venture, and licensing contracts.
Collaborate with the Data Privacy Office on customer data governance, analytics, and security frameworks.
Monitor regulatory changes across relevant jurisdictions, focusing on EU consumer protection rules, AI regulations, distance selling, and social media platform policies.
Assist with complex commercial transactions such as M&A and licensing deals as needed.
