Contextual Overview

Markel Law LLP, an independent, SRA-regulated law firm and part of the global Markel Group, is seeking an Employment Law Associate to join their Manchester team. The role involves handling a diverse caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters for SME and corporate clients in a hybrid working environment.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualified Solicitor or equivalent.
• Proven experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment law.
• Background in a law firm or professional services environment is preferred.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Manage Employment Tribunal claims from inception to conclusion.
• Draft ET claims, responses, and EAT applications.
• Conduct advocacy at Preliminary and Final Hearings.
• Advise clients on non-contentious employment matters and support internal disciplinary/grievance processes.
• Contribute to client-facing materials and legal training updates.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Compensation: Competitive salary and annual bonus. The role is full-time and based in Manchester with hybrid working arrangements.
