Senior Assistant Director, Legal (Fund Counsel)

Contextual Overview

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Investment Office, which manages the University’s multi-billion-dollar global investment fund, is seeking an experienced Fund Counsel to join its team. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support for complex investments across various asset classes, transaction structures, and geographies.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Degree in Law from a reputable institution.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of post-qualification legal experience.
• Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in investment transactions, fund structures, corporate transactions, private markets, and/or financial investments.
• Skills: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Review and advise on fund and investment structures, transaction terms, and related legal documentation.
• Negotiate investment terms and transaction documentation with counterparties and external counsel.
• Advise investment teams on key legal, contractual, governance, and regulatory considerations.
• Provide commercially focused legal advice that balances investment objectives with risk management.
