Associate Counsel

Contextual Overview

Nassau Financial Group is seeking an Associate Counsel to join their Legal Department in Hartford, CT. This in-house role focuses on supporting the company’s insurance, retirement, and investment management operations, with specific responsibilities in managing claims, litigation, and regulatory matters.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Degree: Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of practical experience in private practice or in-house.
• Licensure: Admission to the Connecticut Bar is mandatory.
• Preferred: Demonstrated interest or experience in insurance law, financial services regulation, or litigation.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Support all phases of litigation, including claims disputes, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries.
• Manage outside counsel and support litigation strategy and reporting.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, discovery materials, and memoranda.
• Partner with compliance and fraud teams to investigate policyholder disputes.
• Monitor and analyze developments in insurance laws and litigation trends.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Base Salary: $100,000+ (Salary Band F), commensurate with experience. Includes performance-driven incentives and comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision) effective from the date of hire.
