Contextual Overview

PayerMax is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead legal operations for its payment business in Dubai, UAE. The role involves managing the legal framework for payments, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Compliance, Finance, Product), and overseeing commercial contracts and corporate governance for the UAE entity.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Undergraduate degree in law (LLB or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Experience: 10+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on payments, fintech, or licensed financial institutions.
• Qualification: UAE or common-law qualification is preferred.
• Language: Proficiency in English (written and negotiation).

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Act as the central legal point of contact for the UAE payment business.
• Manage the end-to-end payments lifecycle, including card scheme onboarding and merchant expansion.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including banking relationships and intra-group arrangements.
• Provide legal support for corporate governance and board resolutions.
• Partner with the Compliance team to interpret regulatory requirements (CBUAE, AML/Sanctions, PCI DSS).
