Principal Engineer - Subcontracts

Contextual Overview

Petrofac, a leading international service provider to the energy industry, is seeking a Principal Engineer - Subcontracts based in Abu Dhabi. This role focuses on the commercial and contractual management of subcontracts throughout the project lifecycle, including proposal, award, and post-award administration within the oil and gas sector.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Graduate or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Proven experience in managing subcontract life cycles (from awarding to post-award close-outs).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Site-based construction experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with offshore/modularization projects is an advantage.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Manage subcontracting processes during proposal, project award, and post-award phases.
• Handle subcontract agreements, variations, claims, and extension of time requests.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures and best practices for construction project close-out.
• Utilize digital platforms (SCMS, ERP) for bid evaluation, tabulation, and departmental database maintenance.
• Coordinate with project teams to draft responses to subcontractor claims and counterclaims.
