Lead Counsel, UK & Europe

Contextual Overview

Ramp, a financial technology company specializing in smart infrastructure for finance teams, is seeking its first Lead Counsel for the UK & Europe based in London. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support for product development, regulatory compliance, commercial negotiations, and operational expansion within the European market.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualified attorney authorized to practice in the UK.
• Substantial in-house or law-firm experience supporting regulated financial-services businesses.
• Strong working knowledge of UK and EU payments, e-money, financial-services, and technology regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to advise cross-functionally on product, commercial, corporate, and employment matters.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Advise on legal and regulatory matters including payment services licensing and data protection.
• Negotiate and draft commercial agreements, including bank-partner arrangements and customer-facing terms.
• Partner with internal teams (Product, Compliance, Risk, Finance) to structure new products and market expansions.
• Build scalable legal processes, templates, and training frameworks.
• Manage corporate expansion, entity formation, and coordination with external counsel.
