Senior Legal Counsel – Risewave Consulting, Inc.

Risewave Consulting, Inc. is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to serve as the primary in-house legal adviser for its Singapore and Southeast Asian operations, covering Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The role is based in the Kuala Lumpur area and is a full-time, mid-senior level position within the legal function of a data infrastructure and IT consulting firm.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Malaysia, Singapore, or another established common-law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 7–8 years of post-qualification legal experience; at least 4 years of in-house experience preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of Singapore commercial and contract law.
• Experience supporting commercial activities in at least two of the following markets: Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia; regional exposure across all three is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to independently draft, review, and negotiate complex cross-border commercial and technology-related contracts.
• Excellent written and spoken English; strong commercial acumen and personal integrity.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Act as primary in-house legal adviser for Singapore and Southeast Asian operations.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements including customer/supplier contracts, distribution and reseller agreements, OEM agreements, software licensing, service agreements, NDAs, and strategic partnerships.
• Advise management and business teams on legal, contractual, regulatory, and commercial risks with clear, practical recommendations.
• Develop and maintain legal templates, contract approval processes, playbooks, and risk management frameworks.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel for specialist or jurisdiction-specific advice.
• Support corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment law, disputes, and regulatory enquiries.
• Identify and manage legal risks relating to data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, competition law, sanctions, export controls, and digital-asset regulations.
• Partner with management and cross-functional teams to integrate legal considerations into business decisions.
