Senior Legal Counsel - In-House

Contextual Overview

SSQ is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join the UK legal team of a major international organization operating in the transport sector. This role involves providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice within a global group currently undergoing significant innovation and transformation.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Must be a UK-qualified solicitor.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years’ PQE.
• Expertise: Strong technical foundation in commercial contracts and general commercial law.
• Background: Experience gained in private practice is preferred; relevant in-house experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Acting as a trusted legal adviser to internal stakeholders across procurement, sales, marketing, and IT.
• Managing legal and contractual risks while supporting the business’s commercial objectives.
• Supporting the Head of Legal on strategic matters and managing external counsel.
• Developing internal legal processes, templates, and best practices.
