Legislative/Regulatory Counsel

Contextual Overview

State Farm is seeking a Legislative/Regulatory Counsel to join its Corporate Law Division in Sacramento, CA. This role focuses on government relations, legislative advocacy, and regulatory compliance across multiple states, requiring a seasoned attorney to represent the company's interests before regulators and stakeholders.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensure: Active law license in at least one state; must be able to obtain Registered In-House Counsel (RIHC) status in California.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in government relations, legislative drafting/advocacy, or regulatory law.
• Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Monitor and influence legislative and regulatory activities across multiple states.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with lobbyists, trade associations, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Public Policy teams to craft innovative policy solutions.
• Represent State Farm before regulators and guide responses to examinations.
• Support business units with rate filings and regulatory complaints.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Base Salary: $151,000.00 - $220,000.00 per annum, commensurate with experience. Additionally, eligible for annual incentive pay up to 30% of base salary and comprehensive benefits including 401(k) matching, health coverage, and tuition assistance.
