StraitsX is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel for a 3-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension. This role involves working closely with various internal teams to structure, review, and negotiate complex commercial and partnership agreements within the payments, fintech, and Web3 ecosystem. The position is based in Singapore.
Key Eligibility Criteria

Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Lead the drafting, structuring, reviewing, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial and partnership agreements, particularly within the payments, fintech, and Web3 ecosystem.
- Handle agreements with a range of counterparties, including banks, payment service providers, exchanges, wallets, custodians, fintech companies, and other digital asset/Web3 partners.
- Take end-to-end ownership of commercial transactions and contract negotiations with minimal supervision.
- Partner closely with Commercial, Product, Compliance, Regulatory, Finance, and Operations teams to understand business requirements, identify potential risks, and ensure relevant legal and compliance considerations are appropriately reflected in agreements.
- Provide timely and practical advice to internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations, commitments, and commercial legal matters.
- Advise management and business stakeholders on complex client and partnership matters, including potential contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial, and legal risks.
- Communicate complex legal considerations clearly and concisely, adapting your approach to different stakeholders and audiences.
- Support the development and improvement of contracting processes, templates, playbooks, and procedures to increase operational efficiency.
