Associate Attorney - Casualty Section

Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons L.L.P. is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2 to 7 years of experience to join the Casualty section of its Austin, Texas office. The role focuses on defending a variety of casualty and civil litigation matters involving personal injury, products liability, premises liability, and commercial transportation disputes.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Valid Texas Bar license.
• 2 to 7 years of experience in civil litigation.
• Working knowledge of state and federal civil procedure.
• Strong advocacy, writing, and communication skills.
• Preferred background: Experience in personal injury litigation, client and insurance carrier reporting, and billing hours.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Defend casualty cases including wrongful death, products liability, premises liability, dram shop, trucking/transportation, and construction litigation.
• Handle day-to-day case aspects with partner oversight, including client meetings, reporting, and investigation.
• Conduct discovery, motion practice, take and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Compensation: Competitive salary with quarterly bonuses based on hours billed rather than collections.
