Role Overview
Uber is seeking a Counsel for its Privacy & Cybersecurity Legal team to support product development, ensure global data protection compliance, and maintain privacy standards across its operations. This role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Security, and the DPO office.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of legal experience; at least 2 years specifically in privacy or cybersecurity law.
- Qualification: J.D. degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- Preferred: CIPP certification and experience counseling product/engineering teams.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Advise product teams on privacy-by-design and cybersecurity requirements.
- Monitor and research global data protection laws (GDPR, AI Act, U.S. state laws).
- Negotiate privacy terms in third-party agreements.
- Develop and deliver company-wide privacy and security training.
Stipend & Compensation
Base Salary: $187,000 – $231,000 per year (depending on location). Eligible for bonuses, equity awards, and 401(k) participation.
