Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial

Contextual Overview

UMB Bank is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial to provide strategic legal advice and counsel to business leaders. The role focuses on commercial lending documentation, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation, specifically within the sectors of production agriculture and food/agribusiness lending.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Degree: Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of commercial legal experience; 10+ years of commercial lending experience is preferred.
• Specialization: Proven experience in production agriculture and food/agribusiness lending.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial loan documentation.
• Provide business-focused recommendations to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
• Manage outside counsel engagements and act as a liaison for senior leadership.
• Monitor evolving legal requirements and advise management on emerging trends.
• Collaborate across business units to ensure operational compliance and ethical standards.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Compensation Range: $176,796 - $260,029 per annum. The role also includes a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) matching, medical/dental/vision coverage, and paid time off.
