Contextual Overview

Veolia, a global leader in environmental services, is seeking a Legal Counsel based in Kuala Lumpur. This role functions as a strategic solutions provider, supporting the Water Tech business units with corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance within a matrix organization.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law.
• Experience: 8–12 years of professional experience as an in-house counsel (MNC experience is an advantage) or as a lawyer in a law firm.
• Skills: Proficiency in contract management (construction, energy, or water industry), corporate governance, data privacy, and compliance.
• Competencies: Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills with the ability to navigate matrix organizations and provide practical risk mitigation.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide expert legal counsel on corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Support business development by conducting legal and contractual risk assessments.
• Monitor and advise on the impact of new laws, regulations, and industry trends.
• Manage intellectual property, data privacy, and internal policy development.
• Conduct legal training and awareness programs for internal stakeholders.
