Corporate Counsel, Healthcare Privacy

Contextual Overview

Walgreens is seeking a Corporate Counsel specializing in Healthcare Privacy to be based in Deerfield, IL. This role involves providing legal guidance to leadership on federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA, CCPA, and CPRA, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles into business operations.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Education: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of post-bar attorney experience; 2+ years in financial decision-making and leadership.
• Licensure: Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; Illinois bar membership required.
• Skills: Proficiency in privacy compliance, contract negotiation (DPAs, BAAs), and cross-functional project management.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Provide legal guidance on privacy requirements for federal and state patient/consumer laws.
• Perform privacy reviews of consulting, SaaS, health plan, and pharmacy contracts.
• Collaborate with Legal, Data Governance, and Information Security teams on privacy components of new products and services.
• Develop and implement internal legal policies and best practices.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Salary Range: $125,000 - $250,000 per annum. The final offer is dependent on geography, skills, and experience.
