West Northants Council is seeking a Senior Lawyer (Civil Litigation) to join their in-house Litigation Team at The Guildhall, Northampton. The role involves managing a diverse caseload of civil litigation, representing the Council in County Court proceedings, and providing expert legal advice to officers and elected members.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a qualified Solicitor.
• Strong experience in civil litigation and advocacy.
• Experience in commercial property disputes, contractual matters, debt recovery, or contentious civil work is highly desirable.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Manage a varied caseload including contractual disputes, debt recovery, possession proceedings, and anti-social behaviour injunctions.
• Represent the Council in County Court proceedings and respond to judicial review challenges.
• Draft complex legal documents and instruct Counsel when necessary.
• Contribute to service improvement and mentor colleagues within the Litigation Team.

Stipend, Compensation & Mode

Salary: £49,587 - £52,860 per annum (plus 11% Market Factor Supplement).
