Legal Counsel

Contextual Overview

ZTE Malaysia is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join their team in Kuala Lumpur. This role involves managing corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, and litigation support within the telecommunications sector.

Key Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Must possess a Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of full-time legal experience.
• Expertise: Solid foundation in Malaysian law and local legal practice.
• Language: Excellent English (oral and written); proficiency in Mandarin is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities & Scope of Work

• Manage corporate, legal, and regulatory matters including governance, project contracts, and vendor/customer relationships.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements to ensure alignment with company policy and local laws.
• Provide legal opinions on procurement, contract claims, and dispute resolution.
• Handle company litigation, including pre-trial motions and strategic defense planning.
• Participate in the retention and management of outside counsel.
• Monitor updates on local laws and policies to provide comprehensive reports.
